One 14k white gold and diamond, eight-prong solitaire engagement ring. Item condition is previously loved.
Before the “Round Brilliant Cut” became what we know it as today, it was originally known as the “Old European Cut”. The old-style cuts had much smaller tables with steep crowns, chunky pavilion faceting, and large cutlets. While these cuts are gorgeous in their own way, refining the cut made them all the more desirable. From the European cut, it transitioned closer to the Brilliant Cut with symmetry and consistency in mind, yielding larger tables and lower crowns, while keeping that amazing sparkle, making them known as a “Transitional Round Brilliant”. Most commonly seen in jewellery from the 1930’s into the 40’s, this amazing piece certainly fits the era.
Crafted in high polished 14k white gold, this solitaire engagement ring shows off the Art-Deco styling of its eight-prong, basket style setting, with hearts carved into the metal around the gallery. Set within the metal holds is an absolutely breathtaking, 1.52ct., Transitional Round Brilliant cut diamond. Measuring 7.69 x 7.55 x 4.32mm, the spready table of the crown perfectly shows off the arrow-like facets from the Good quality cut, aided by the eye-clean VS-2 clarity and stark white E colour.
