One custom made 14k yellow gold, ruby, diamond, and peridot dragon brooch. Item condition is previously loved.
Fashioned approximately circa 1880, this one-of-a-kind vintage brooch is crafted in 14k yellow gold, in the shape of a dragon bearing a sword, embellished with a gorgeous mix of stones.
The hilt of the sword is adorned with eight round shaped and faceted rubies, while the eye of the dragon is set with a round shaped, cabochon ruby, all of which approximately measure 1.9 – 1.7mm and have an approximate total weight of 0.30ct. These moderately included gemstones present with a “medium tone of strong, slightly purplish red colour” and medium quality cut.
Adorning the pommel in a five-prong setting is a 2.7mm old European cut diamond, approximately weighing 0.08ct., that dazzles with its VS-2 clarity and F-G colour. Lastly, bezel set within the wing, is a 2.1mm round shaped and faceted green peridot, approximately weighing 0.04ct., showing off its “medium tone of strong, slightly yellowish green colour” and fair cut.
This antique is attached to a hinged pin with a hook catch for security and approximately weighs 11.5-grams.
