A Lise Gervais (1933-1998) Oil on Canvas (1957) painting named “Terra Incognita”, signed and dated. Lise Gervais was born in Saint-Césaire, Quebec on 2 September 1933 and passed away on 30 April 1998 in Montreal. She studied painting and sculpture at the École des beaux-arts de Montréal. Her style is associated with the Automatistes and Paul-Émile Borduas. For many years she taught art in Montreal at the Ecole des beaux-arts, the Université du Québec, and Concordia University. In 1983 she was elected president of the Conseil des Artistes-Peintres du Quebec.
